The programme was held by Allianz Malaysia Bhd in partnership with the Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (Fomca).
Allianz General Insurance Company (M) Bhd Segamat branch manager Francis Tan Chin Foo said this was the seventh class they had organised for schoolchildren this year.
“The lessons include differentiating between needs and wants, recognising tools used in advertisements as well as the criteria when making a purchase,” he said.
Tan hoped that through the programme, pupils would become more responsible with their finances.
“We want to promote financial literacy when they are still in school,” Tan said, adding that Allianz Malaysia and Fomca would organise the classes in 20 schools nationwide.
Since the introduction of the MFC programme in January 2012, it had reached over 10,100 students from 103 schools and organisations.
MFC is a financial literacy programme founded in Germany in 2010 by Allianz, Grey and McKinsey to improve money management skills among young people.
Under the programme, employees volunteer to be trained as finance coaches to conduct classes in schools and non-profit organisations.
