GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Smart Parking (PSP) application is back online after encountering a technical glitch yesterday.

State Local Government Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, however, said the PSP application had yet to "stabilise".

"The PSP application came back online at 11am today but it is still 'on and off'. We will continue to monitor the system closely.

"If it remains unstable at the end of the day, both the Penang Island and Seberang Prai City Councils will issue a statement on parking fees for today," he told newsmen.

Yesterday, irate Penangites took to social media to vent their frustrations after they were unable to log in to their PSP account.

As such, no parking fees were charged for yesterday.

Both city councils had also informed users that they would not be issued summons for non-payment of parking fees for yesterday.

Asked if parking would also be free today, Jagdeep said they would have to monitor the performance of the system first.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said it was still too early to determine the losses incurred due to the technical glitch.

Earlier, Chow witnessed the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between the Penang Youth Development Corporation and Big Domain Sdn Bhd, to set up the Penang Youth Digital Talent Platform.

"We hope to train about 1,000 youths in digital skills within two years.

"The Penang Youth Digital Talent Platform will also serve as a medium to match digital talents with digital services needed by operators."
