Finding a cheap car is one thing, getting a good value is another. Make sure you have the best value deal by following the tips below:
- Inspect any car before you buy, and be sure to take it to a professional mechanic for an inspection and second opinion.
- Make sure to ask as many questions as you need to before you buy, such as any accidents or previous problems with the car.
- Beware of flood recovered cars, or cars with hidden problems. To avoid this, see a third party mechanic for a full vehicle inspection.
- When looking at the car, write down the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) so when you get home, you can do a vehicle history check.
- Make sure the car has a clean title. A salvage-title car is basically a damaged car salvaged for parts. Some shops try to ‘fix up’ the car, and resell it. Often times the job is shoddy and incomplete.
- Buying a car is a big investment, even a used one. Test drive before your purchase and ask any questions you may have.
- If buying from a third party, ask for receipts they may have pertaining to servicing, tires, oil changes, batteries, etc.
